Weekly Meditation Classes
Maitreya Kadampa Buddhist Center offers a variety of introductory meditation classes throughout Northern Florida. These are often known as "General Program (GP)" classes.
Our weekday evening General Program (introductory) classes are generally divided into month-long series. The classes are designed both as a series and as stand alone classes, so you can attend any one of the classes, even if the series has already started.
We also have General Program (introductory) classes on weekends, combined with Prayers for World Peace. These classes consist of an inspirational talk, short prayers for global peace and guided meditation to create peace inside of people's hearts and therefore the world.
Our introductory meditation classes are designed to give a broad introduction to Buddhist meditation, teachings, and practice. The classes combine guided meditation with practical spiritual advice that you can immediately apply as a method for solving the stress and problems in your life. In these classes, you will learn how to meditate, how to establish a daily practice, how to concentrate, and how to overcome distractions. You will also learn different meditation techniques that help you overcome negative states of mind, such as anger and selfishness, and cultivate positive states of mind, such as patience and love.
